Listen to Dan Hill's My Father's Son Daniel Hill IV—known to millions simply as Dan Hill—is one of Canada’s most respected and successful singer-songwriters. By age 23, he had already won several Junos and had been nominated for a Grammy, having released three multi-platinum albums in Canada and another platinum album in the United States. Dan wrote music steadily until his father’s death in 2003. Mired in pain and loss, Dan tapped into the hurt. Thousands of hours and pages later, his first novel, I Am My Father’s Son (A Memoir of Love and Forgiveness) was born. The critically-acclaimed memoir chronicled the difficult and poignant relationship Dan had had with his father.
In 2009, Dan Hill published his highly acclaimed memoir, I Am My Father’s Son (HarperCollins Canada). On the heels of completing his memoir, Dan recorded his 14th album, Intimate, with producers Matthew McCauley and Fred Mollin, his first studio album of new songs in almost 15 years. Thus began a hectic period of composing and recording. Hill expects the album to follow a similar sales pattern to his book. I Am My Father’s Son is selling better now than when it came out in February 09 and I believe my CD will continue to sell over time, as opposed to the regular quick pop thing.
