This course provides training for personnel performing duties as a member of an installation Special Reaction Team entry team member and prepares them to respond to and resolve high risk incidents. The SRT will provide the commander with an enhanced response capability above that provided by on-duty conventional law enforcement/security patrols.

This course provides training for personnel performing duties as a member of an installation Special Reaction Team entry team member and prepares them to respond to and resolve high risk incidents. The SRT will provide the commander with an enhanced response capability above that provided by on-duty conventional law enforcement/security patrols. Instructional emphasis focuses on SRT tactics, marksmanship and high risk incidents including response to a terrorist incident, barricaded incidents (with and without hostages), drug raids, high risk warrant apprehensions and active shooter.
Units requiring Special Reaction Team training at their location may request a Mobile Training Team (MTT). This request should be routed through the MACOM to Headquarters, Department of the Army, ATTN: G3 DAMO-ODO Provost Marshal Desk, 400 Army Pentagon, Washington, DC 20310. Every attempt to fill vacant seats should be made prior to requesting an MTT.

    COURSE PREREQUISITE ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION:

  • The Commanders Screening Checklist (CSC) must be filled out completely and signed by the first O-5 in the Chain of Command. The CSC certifies that the individual has been screened and meets all requirements to attend the SRT course. The CSC must be turned in to SRT staff personnel at in-processing on Day 1 of the course. Students who do not report to the course with a completed CSC will be returned to their parent unit at unit expenses.
  • WAIVERS:
  • For students attending this course who requires a waiver for any of the prerequisites listed on ATRRS, the unit must submit the waiver to the Director of Training and Education (DOT&E), United States Army Military Police School (USAMPS), Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473-8929 a minimumof 60 days from the start of the course. Students with approved waivers must report with a copy of the waiver for in-processing.

    CIVILIAN MEDICAL CLEARANCE
  • Civilian Students attending the SRT Course need to be cleared for strenuous physical activity by a physician.
  • Both USALE day pistol and rifle qualification (IAW ST 19-LEWTAQ) is the prerequisite firearms qualification course for entryinto the course.
    The CSC serves as proof of firearms qualifications scores and dates, physical fitness test scores and dates, assignment to SRT, verification of clearance, PHA with no temporary or permanent profile, no adverse action, as well serves as a record of unit pre-execution. The CSC and orders are the only documents required for in-processing. If a waiver was approved, the student who received a waiver must also report with the approved waiver in hand. NOTE: Civilians must also report with medical clearance for strenuous physical activity from a physician.

NOTE: This course requires a high degree of physical fitness. Participants have to run, jump, wear protective clothing (body armor, ballistic eye protection, etc.) and will come in contact with other students or instructors during several phases of training.

This course is NOT releasable to students of foreign countries.

Graduation will be at the completion of training on Friday afternoon of week two. Generally around 1500 hrs. We highly recommend not making return flight arrangements on the day of graduation. It is a 2.5 hour drive to St. Louis from Fort Leonard Wood.

Commands are highly encouraged to authorize a rental vehicle. The distance from billeting to the training area is such that walking is not an option. Students may be billeted off post and training areas are located at remote sites. Students must coordinate with their current command for rental vehicle approval and orders must state 'RENTAL CAR IS AUTHORIZED'. If a POV is authorized, ensure orders state: 'IN AND AROUND MILEAGE IS AUTHORIZED'. In and around travel of no more than 20 miles per day should be authorized if billeted on post, 30 miles per day if billeted off post. Taxis are available on the installation.
If driving, the most direct route is by Interstate 44 between Saint Louis and Springfield, MO. Fort Leonard Wood is located near the city of Saint Robert, MO approximately 140 mile west of St. Louis and 90 miles east of Springfield. Turn south off I-44 onto I-44 business spur at exit 161, the Fort Leonard Wood main gate is approximately 2.5 miles.
If traveling by air to St. Louis International Airport (STL); commercial bus lines are available for transportation to Fort Leonard Wood. Rental car from St. Louis: Exit St. Louis Airport to Highway (Hwy) 70 West. Continue on hwy 70 to exit 270 South (Memphis). Travel 270 South to I-44 exit west. Continue on I-44 West (approximately 125 miles), exit at 161 to Fort
Commercial taxis are available on a 24-hour basis for transportation on post.

Students initially arriving to the Special Reaction Team Training Course must report to the Candlewood Suites (Bldg 2020), Fort Leonard Wood, MO (Map to BLDG 2020 and Parker Hall below) on Sunday prior to the start of the course to obtain their in-processing packet. The Special Reaction Team Training Course welcome letter is below; the dates will change but the instructions will remain the same for each class. Upon completion of in-processing on Monday morning, students will receive further guidance by the course cadre. In-processing will take place at, 0615 at Parker Hall, Room 113, Building #971, 7507 Artillery Circle, Fort Leonard Wood, MO, 65473.
In the event inclement weather occurs on the first day of the course, students should call the Fort Leonard Wood SNAIR hotline at 573-563-4141 for reporting instructions or go to the Fort Leonard Wood – Maneuver Support Center of Excellence home page at http://www.wood.army.mil/newweb/.
